Companion Animal Chaplain

Reverend R.C. Eckert, D.D.
Non-denominational Minister - Wedding Officiant:
Licensed And Ordained Minister
Ohio License# 22455
Chaplain F.O.E. Aerie 3006

Serving people and the animals they love.

Losing a companion animal or pet can be like losing a family member, because to many of us, that is exactly what they are. Unfortunately, there are few places a person or family can turn to get help in dealing with the grief involved in losing a beloved pet. A Pet Chaplain helps loved ones understand that their grief is normal, and provides emotional and spiritual comfort when it is needed most. A Pet Chaplain offers a compassionate ear while making difficult decisions, a safe place to acknowledge the love and the loss, and provides a spiritual framework which eventually leads to comfort and acceptance.

I am a nondenominational minister who provides pet loss grief support and performs memorial services. I serve the needs of clients in the southwest Ohio Tri-State area, including southeast Indiana and northern Kentucky. I am an animal lover who will come to a clinic to comfort the bereaved, hold hands (and hearts) during surgery or euthanasia, or perform a memorial service at the client's home, track or barn, or in a park. My philosophy is gentle and respectful.  I have had many pets of my own, and I have compassion for the difficult times pet owners sometimes face.

Fees: My fees are straightforward. For a memorial service, I charge a requested donation fee of $50-100 (plus mileage if it is outside the Cincinnati metro area), which includes my basic nondenominational ceremony adapted to include specifics about the beloved animal and their personal story. I can perform the service at the time of cremation or interment, or at a scheduled time. For surgery support, spiritual counseling, or euthanasia support, I charge a requested donation fee of $50 per hour. These services are available as needed and I will do my utmost to meet your scheduling needs.

Services Provided by Companion Animal Clergy:

Nondenominational Memorial Services for families and friends at your home/barn/track/clinic. Suggested donation of $50-$100. Includes copy of service, ceremony certificate, follow-up support

Spiritual/Grief Counseling - Suggested donation of $50 per hour

Emotional support during Euthanasia or Surgery at veterinary clinic - Suggested donation of $50 per hour

(All fees are a suggested donation. Please remember this is my livelihood).

In the spirit of love,

Rev.  Chip
